In 2026, the festival will take over two cities: Brisbane (January 1 at the Brisbane Showgrounds) and Perth (January 3 at the Arena Joondalup). The Adelaide edition has been suspended for this season, but the two maintained dates offer an XXL party in every corner of the country. Rainbow Spirit Festival - Gathering Light 2026

The most anticipated return of the Australian doof. After six years of absence - devastating bushfires in 2020, then pandemic - themythicalRainbow Serpent Festival(founded in 1997) is reborn under the name Rainbow Spirit for its 2026 edition entitled “Gathering Light”. The new site, Eagle Ridge Event Park in Tallarook (about 1 hour north of Melbourne, on Taungurung land), replaces the historic Lexton site. Three scenes, ceremonial and transformational atmosphere, capacity deliberately reduced to preserve the community spirit. The ticket sales were entirely pre-sold via a Humanitix pre-registration system; a few places are available for official resale. Pitch Music & Arts Festival 2026

Pitch Music & Arts is often cited as one of the most successful techno and house festivals on the planet. And the reputation is deserved. Nestled in the foothills of the Grampians at Moyston (Victoria), this 5-day festival attracts no more than 7,000 people, giving it a rare intimacy for an event of this stature. The Funktion-One soundsystem installed on site is the largest in the southern hemisphere. The signature brutalist stage architecture, designed to surprise with each edition, attracts visual arts enthusiasts as much as music enthusiasts. In 2026, Charlotte de Witte is announced as headliner, in accordance with the demanding standards of Pitch programming. Two new sections are making their debut: the Pitch Rock Pool (wellness and swimming area) and an expanded arts program under the direction of Tom Supple. Reserved for ages 18 and over. Esoteric Festival 2026

Launched in 2017, Esoteric has established itself in just a few editions as one of the major bush doofs of the Australian calendar. It partly inherits the Earthcore mythology (the historic psytrance festival which disappeared in 2017) while cultivating its own identity focused on sustainability, collective consciousness and the art of living in the forest. The site, located in a bush area of the Wimmera region in Donald (Victoria), offers five immersive days under the eucalyptus trees: natural camps, elaborate scenic design, wellness areas, workshops and artistic installations. The fact that the 2026 edition falls on the same weekend as Pitch and Rainbow Spirit (Labour Day Victoria) forces a choice - and many will choose Esoteric for its underground spirit and more accessible fare. Psytrance and techno programming, strong community atmosphere.

Ultra Australia + Ultra Beach Gold Coast 2026

The Ultra Worldwide franchise is coming to Australia for a double date in April. On Saturday 11th, Ultra Australia takes over Melbourne's Flemington Racecourse for its 7th edition - a highly publicized stadium EDM event that mixes big room, house and techno under the spotlight of Ultra production. The following day, Ultra Beach Gold Coast takes over at Broadwater Parklands in Southport for what is billed as the 3rd and final edition of this coastal format on the Gold Coast. Lineup 2026: The Chainsmokers, DJ Snake, Darren Styles, Oliver Heldens, Miss Monique, MaRLo, Zedd. Ultra Beach tickets were sold out during the pre-sale, with a few seats available for resale via Tixel. A more mainstream event than the bush doofs that punctuate this calendar, but unmissable for fans of the mainstream EDM scene.

Four days of electronic music in the tropical bush, on a 30,000-acre private estate at Innot Hot Springs (near Ravenshoe, about 2 hours south of Cairns), around the southern winter solstice. The 2026 theme, "The Midnight Machine - a cyberpunk dreamscape", announces a full-fledged immersive festival: visual installations, nocturnal scenography under the Milky Way, quality psytrance, techno and bass programming.
