The Best Techno Festivals in Egypt (2026)

Egypt has no long-running techno scene. What it has is something else entirely: settings that simply cannot be recreated anywhere else, from the foot of the Great Pyramids of Giza to the granite valleys of Sinai. Five major electronic events are setting up their stages there across 2026. Three have already happened (The Moment, NO ART, Sandbox), and the two biggest are still ahead of us: Starlight in October, Zamna in November. Here is the full picture.

Born in Copenhagen and curated by Danish trio WhoMadeWho, The Moment brought its first Egyptian edition to the Red Sea coast at Ain Sokhna, a two-hour drive from Cairo. The brand's approach comes down to one idea: take live music out of the club and drop it somewhere that actually matters. Here that meant the hillside of Il Monte Galala, with two tiered stages trading off from sunset through to first light. The Sunset Stage opened at 4pm with Moti, Awadly and Stasi Sanlin. The Mountain Stage took over at 9pm with Alex Wann, WhoMadeWho live and Berlin duo Mind Against, before a WhoMadeWho and Mind Against b2b ran until 4am. This was the most music-led night of the selection: one evening, six names, no filler.

NO ART Soma Bay 2026

NO ART is the party brand founded by Amsterdam duo ANOTR, known for putting its sound systems absolutely anywhere except a conventional club. For its second Egyptian outing, the collective set up on the Human Figures Platform in Soma Bay, facing the Red Sea, at the invitation of Egyptian electronic brand Human Figures. The bill was one of the strongest the region saw all year: ANOTR at the helm, Chris Stussy, a Job Jobse and Palms Trax b2b, Chloé Caillet, Bella, and Egyptian house mainstay Misty. Doors at 8pm, close at 1am, then an official after party the next morning at 7am at The Theatre in Somabay with Chloé Caillet, Job Jobse and Misty, open only to main event ticket holders. This was the full weekend format of the selection.

Sandbox Festival 2026

Sandbox is the only genuine Egyptian festival in this selection in the historical sense of the word: founded in 2012, run by Nacelle, and reaching its twelfth edition in 2026. Three days, eight stages spread across the El Gouna resort on the Red Sea, and more than a hundred artists. The programming holds up against any European festival: Dixon, a DJ Tennis and Traumer b2b, Floorplan, Bedouin, Butch b2b Toman, Craig Richards, Shanti Celeste b2b Peach, The Blaze on a DJ set, PARAMIDA, Âme live, Courtesy, Anthea, HoneyLuv, Sally C and Roza Terenzi. The Egyptian scene gets real billing too, with Hisham Zahran, Misty and a Husa & Zeyada live show. On-site hotel packages make it the easiest trip to organise from Europe, and the best entry point if you only plan to do one Egyptian festival.

Starlight Festival 2026

This is the event of the year and it is still to come. Starlight is the first ever multi-stage, multi-day festival staged at the foot of the Great Pyramids of Giza, co-produced by EXIT Festival, the Serbian institution from Novi Sad, and P+US, the electronic music platform of Venture Lifestyle. Four days, more than fifty artists, at least three stages. The two big nights run on the Giza plateau on 9 and 10 October, bookended by a welcome party on the 8th and an after party on the 11th spread across Cairo. The techno side is properly covered: Charlotte de Witte, Enrico Sangiuliano, Indira Paganotto and Charlie Sparks for the harder end, Adriatique, Michael Bibi, Vintage Culture, Pete Tong and WhoMadeWho for the house and melodic colour, with a solid Egyptian contingent behind them. Watching Charlotte de Witte play facing the Sphinx is the kind of booking that will not come round twice.

Zamna Sharm El-Sheikh 2026

The last date of the Egyptian season is also the most desert-bound. After a well-received debut in autumn 2025, Zamna returns for a second edition stretched to three days in Khoroum Valley, a natural granite amphitheatre in South Sinai, inland from Sharm El-Sheikh. The Tulum-born brand brings the production that made its name: a single stage wedged into the rock, pyrotechnics, and a wall of sound aimed straight down the valley. The announced bill mixes legends with the current wave: Sasha and John Digweed headlining, Marco Carola, CamelPhat, GORDO, Korolova, Mind Against, MRAK, SHIMZA, Brina Knauss, Mëstiza, ASAL and the Zamna Soundsystem. The pass covers all three nights, which makes it the best value trip in the selection if you are travelling in from Europe.

The best festival outfits and accessories for Egypt

Egypt follows a rule every desert regular knows: hot and dry by day, then a sharp drop the moment the sun goes behind the rock. Expect around 18 °C on the Giza plateau on an October evening, and an even wider day-to-night swing across three days in Khoroum Valley in November. Over on the Red Sea, in El Gouna, Soma Bay or Ain Sokhna, it is the sea breeze that takes over after sunset.
